However, given that security standards differ from country to country, building infrastructure that complies with Korean domestic laws is an undertaking that requires enormous time and cost for overseas companies.

What kind of problems does Korea Information Security Awareness solve?
We are a professional consulting firm that helps companies recognize information security and personal data protection not as a mere technical issue, but as an essential element of corporate risk management. The company name was chosen with the intention of ensuring that companies and their executives properly understand the importance of security and that this understanding translates into actual investment and system implementation.
During our first 10 years, we focused primarily on information security education and the development of training materials. We taught practitioners management skills and helped executives understand why security is a risk management strategy. However, we concluded that education alone had its limitations in driving substantive change in the field, so we expanded into consulting—going directly into companies to solve problems hands-on.
Personally, I have been in this field since the era of PC-based online services, when the rapid expansion of the internet was giving rise to security challenges. Having recognized the value of information security at the forefront of that transformation, I have now spent over 25 years continuously helping companies establish their security frameworks.
What are your current main business areas and achievements?
Our primary focus is "information security compliance consulting" for global tech companies. For overseas companies to provide stable services in the Korean market, they must comply with domestic information security and personal data protection regulations. We review the procedures and technical requirements necessary in that process and provide support with response measures.
A significant number of our current clients are global cloud and big tech companies. In particular, there is strong demand for consulting on ISMS (Information Security Management System) certification, which is essential for conducting business in Korea. ISMS certification serves as a benchmark for credibility in the Korean market. Accordingly, we partner not only with companies that are legally obligated to obtain certification, but also with companies that are voluntarily pursuing certification to build external trust with their business partners and customers.
I heard you have recently introduced AI into your consulting work.
We are utilizing AI agents in research areas such as the collection and analysis of publicly available information. Through this, we have been able to effectively improve data precision and task processing speed. Previously, cross-referencing numerous laws and guidelines one by one required a significant amount of time, but since adopting AI, our resource expenditure has been substantially reduced. In practice, some projects were carried out directly through collaboration with AI, and we received positive evaluations from clients who recognized our expertise. I believe that security consulting, too, becomes significantly more efficient when human analytical capabilities are combined with AI's technological strengths.
What are your future goals and challenges?
We plan to obtain designation as a "Certified Information Security Consulting Firm" by the government, thereby expanding our client base to include domestic public institutions. We would like to apply the expertise we have accumulated through consulting for global tech companies across domestic public and industrial sectors, contributing to the advancement of Korea's security framework. If rapidly evolving global security standards can be integrated into the domestic public sector market, I believe it will generate positive synergies.
Additionally, in keeping pace with our business expansion, securing professional consultants is our top priority. We are currently seeking talent through recruitment platforms; however, it is true that we face difficulties in hiring experienced professionals due to the industry-wide talent shortage.
